Why this Program is important

The IDEAL GIRL series is an ongoing mentorship process targeting girls aged 13 to 18 years, that offers the right environment to facilitate well-grounded values in Christ and foster the right identity.

It gives an experience of self-discovery, self-identity, confidence, and self- esteem

The girls begin to think differently; and develop a new identity as a leader who takes initiative and positively influences her community.

Sessions are practical and interactive. They are “hands-on”, and network driven. Transferable concepts are acquired through demonstration, role-playing, question and answer sessions, and practical applications.

The Real ISSUE

During adolescence, identity formation is a crucial part of social development. The adolescent battles with the questions: Who am I? Where do I belong? What are my interests? Do I matter?

Identity formation is done by “trying on” different roles in various settings, such as home, school, and other social settings. In this process young girls explore their own values, ethics, spirituality, racial and ethnic identity, sexuality, and gender.

While they are learning what makes them unique, they also have an increased need to “fit in.”

They face a lot of physical changes as they get into adolescent hood which can cause unhealthy self image if not navigated well.

They face peer pressure in terms of lifestyle .i.e. clothing, cars, material possessions etc. from their peers, and can also experience peer to peer conflict. They seem to need a lot of affirmation especially from their parents and may be facing a case of parent absenteeism and general parental issues.

They tend to be marginalized since they are trying to form their own identity and therefore need to be engaged in heathy activities to reduce loneliness and early depression.

The young lady is on the quest to discover and adopt an identity.
The journey of finding her identity is clouded by insecurities and wrong perceptions created by the society through media, her peers and her family background. The society is sending the wrong cultural messages of who the ‘ideal girl’ is. The ladies are embracing idolatry when they base their value, worth and identity on the influence by the media and other sources apart from God.
The pressure to conform and engage in sex as a norm in relationships is causing girls to have early pregnancies which they tend to handle by getting abortions. The girls are engaging in many toxic relationships causing heartbreaks, depression and suicides.
The girl of today is ambitious, she has pressure to be the best, but not sure how to get there or which area she would thrive best in.

The IDEAL GIRL series is a transformative experience that will develop the girls from their adolescence, teenage hood and beyond.
It will provide a platform to redefine culture of young women through God’s perspective.

A competent mentor leads a group of 2-4 girls through out the experience. It involves group and one on one sessions.

Every group session has the structure as follows:-

•Speaking session by a Guest facilitator (30min)
• Group discussion with mentor and activities (30min)
• Debriefing with Question and Answer (45 min)

Every one on one session has the structure as follows:-

• Interactive fun activity
• One on one session that includes in-depth follow up
• Any action points mentee will take and mentor can keep her
accountable

The mentors are screened and well equipped to mentor the girls.
An agreement form will be signed by the parent and the Program
Coordinator before proceeding
A report will be given to the parent/guardian after every session
Showcasing the progress of the mentorship. Communication in between sessions through phone call or letter writing is encouraged. This is not counted as a cost but offered free as follow up.
A customized program of topics is allowed depending on the case of the mentee which after meeting of the parent, will be drafted. 3 sessions are planned before with proposed activities, and can be modified depending on time and preference of mentee and parent/guardian.
Parents and guardians will be directed on how to assist the girls on certain exercises which will enhance parent-daughter relationships.
BONUS:-The parents/guardians will undergo a free parents training for one hour.
